La historia de «Throne»

«Throne» fue una de las primeras canciones que Bring Me the Horizon escribió para That's the Spirit, y su vocalista, Oliver Sykes, llegó a decir que «sentía como nuestra canción de regreso». La produjo junto al teclista Jordan Fish, que la considera una de las más sencillas y directas del disco. Para Sykes, una sola línea —«que me echéis a los lobos»— resume su tema de fondo: que es la gente que te rompe la que también te hace. Se estrenó el 23 de julio de 2015 en BBC Radio 1 como «Hottest Record» de Annie Mac y ese mismo día apareció como single, con un videoclip dirigido por el propio Sykes y Plastic Kid que muchos compararon con Juego de Tronos.

En octubre, «Throne» y «Happy Song» fueron los temas oficiales del espectáculo de lucha libre NXT TakeOver: Respect. En el Reino Unido se mantuvo doce semanas consecutivas en lo más alto de la lista de rock y metal, y en Estados Unidos fue el primer lanzamiento de la banda en alcanzar el número uno del Mainstream Rock de Billboard. Con el tiempo ha sonado en series y programas como The Vampire Diaries o Match of the Day, y en 2026 una remezcla cinematográfica apareció en el videojuego Ghost of Yōtei.
