La historia de «Up&Up»

Antes de publicarla, Chris Martin ya la señalaba como algo especial: al presentar el álbum en Los Ángeles en noviembre de 2015 dijo que era «la canción que llevábamos 15 años esperando escribir». El coro de Up&Up reúne a casi todos los artistas que habían colaborado con el grupo, entre ellos Brian Eno, Beyoncé y los hijos de los cuatro músicos, además de las voces de Annabelle Wallis y Merry Clayton. Noel Gallagher puso el segundo solo de guitarra, que quedó fuera de la edición para radio.

El vídeo, dirigido por Vania Heymann y Gal Muggia y estrenado en mayo de 2016, es un montaje surrealista de imágenes superpuestas en el que la banda aparece en distintos paisajes, como la sierra croata de Biokovo. Martin llegó a decir que le parecía «uno de los mejores vídeos que se han hecho». La canción se tocó en el descanso de la Super Bowl 50, con Bruno Mars y Beyoncé en los últimos versos, y en Glastonbury, donde los hijos de Martin ayudaron en los coros. Cerró todas las noches del A Head Full of Dreams Tour, y el final extendido de La Plata de 2017 quedó recogido en Live in Buenos Aires.
