La historia de «Bad for me»

«Bad for Me» nació de una situación personal de Meghan Trainor: una relación tóxica dentro de su propia familia. La cantante la coescribió junto a Wrabel y Stint, a quienes entonces no conocía, con Federico Vindver en la producción, y lo resumió así: «Las relaciones tóxicas pueden estar en tu familia, puedes alejarte de ellas y es duro, pero es posible». Nunca quiso decir de quién hablaba, aunque sí descartó que se tratara de su hermano Ryan.

La idea de convertirla en un dúo fue de Daryl Sabara, que esa misma noche le sugirió que era la canción adecuada para grabarla con Teddy Swims, con quien Trainor llevaba mucho tiempo queriendo colaborar. Swims, amigo de Wrabel y Stint, respondió que «sería un honor formar parte de esto» y la grabaron la semana siguiente en el estudio casero de la cantante, que la consideró más personal que el resto de sus canciones por implicar a otra persona. El videoclip, dirigido por Thom Kerr, se estrenó el mismo día que el single y los muestra recorriendo un decorado ilusorio de flores. En agosto de 2022 aparecieron una versión acústica y un EP con remixes de JTrain, Disco Lines y Zookëper.
